Our Purpose

The purpose of GetBible.org is to promote the salvation of lost souls; the edification of believing Christians through the use and teaching of God's word; the worldwide proclamation of God's saving grace through the shed blood and finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary; the defense of the faith until Jesus comes for His church.

It is the intent of GetBible.org to function freely as evangelistic and independent, recognizing no ecclesiastical authority other than God's word through His Holy scripture. We reject all worldly philosophies that distort true Biblical Christianity. The King James Version is to be used as our principle (but not exclusive) source when referencing Holy Scripture.

GetBible.org Doctrinal Statement

[Note: The following is not meant to be all inclusive. References may be changed as necessary for clarity.]

We recognize fully the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the very Word of God, verbally inspired in all parts in its original autographs, our infallible and authoritative rule of faith and practice (2Peter 1:21). Accordingly, we also recognize and fully agree with the following:

There is one God eternally existent in the form of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:26; Genesis 11:7; Isaiah 48:16; John 10:30):

A literal seven day creation including the creation of man by the direct act of God (Genesis 1:1-2:3; Genesis 2:7):

The incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and His identification as the only begotten Son of God (Matthew 1:23; John 4:9):

That all men are born sinners and that while we were yet sinners, Jesus Christ shed His precious Blood on the cross and died. That Jesus Christ rose again from the dead (Romans 5:18-19; 1Thess. 4:14; Luke 24:1-8; Acts 10:34-41; Luke 24:33-46):

That in His power we can be saved from the penalty of sin by the gift of God through Jesus Christ to all who will repent and believe. That this salvation is by grace through faith alone, a gift of God, not by any virtue or works of man: but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 13:3; Romans 6:23; John 10:10; Acts 3:19; Hebrews 10:39; Ephesians 2:8-9):

That all true believers possess the gift of eternal life, a perfect righteousness, sonship in the family of God, and the divine guarantee that they shall never perish (John 10:28-29; 1 John 5:13):

That the Head of the church is Christ and His lordship over all creation (Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18):

That Jesus, after His resurrection from the dead, ascended into Heaven to be our Intercessor (Acts 1:1-10; Eph. 1:15-23):

That this same Jesus shall so return in like manner as they saw Him go into heaven (Acts 1:9-11):

That we are to be always ready for the return of Jesus and each Christian should occupy (keep busy in His will and in His service) till the Lord's return (John 7:37-39; Acts 1:8; Eph. 5:18; Matt. 24:44; Luke 19:13; Titus 2:11-15; 1 Peter 1:13-19):

Christ’s return in the clouds (the rapture), the exact day and time being unrevealed but always imminent and that when He comes He will first by resurrection of the bodies of the dead and the  translation of the living, remove from the earth His waiting church (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18; Matthew 24:36-39):

That at His second coming (to Earth) He will pour out the righteous judgments of God upon the unbelieving world, afterwards descend with His church and establish His glorious and literal kingdom over all the nations for a thousand years (Matthew 24:21-22; Revelation 20:4):

That the spirits of the saved at death go immediately to be with Christ in Heaven; that at His second coming their works will be judged and rewards determined; that the spirits of the unsaved at death descend immediately into Hell until the final day of judgment, at which time their bodies shall be raised from the grave, judged, and cast into the lake of fire, the place of final and everlasting punishment (Luke 23:42-43; Revelation 20:12-15):

That Satan, the deceiver and prince of this world, the god of this age, was defeated and judged at the cross and therefore his final doom is certain (John 14:30; 2 Corinthians 4:4; John 16:11; Hebrews 2:14; Revelation 12:9):

In the priesthood of all believers, that Christ is our Great High Priest and through Him every born-again person has direct access into God's presence without the need of a human intercessor or priest (Hebrews 9:11; Hebrews 3:1; Hebrews 8:1; 1 Timothy 2:5):

That the believer has the right and responsibility personally to study and interpret the Scriptures guided by the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 2:15; 1 Corinthians 2:14):

That the church consists of all born-again believers practicing scriptural ordinances (through their local assemblies) and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission (See Ordinances section below):

That we are to live in the world without being of the world, avoiding conformity to the world (1 Cor. 7:30-31; 2 Corinthians 6:17; 2 Cor. 1:12; 2 Tim. 2:4; Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 6:14-18)

That God has ordained both church and government, and has delegated authority to each (Luke 20:25; Romans 13:5-7):

That we are to mark and avoid teachers of theological error (Rom. 16:17; 2 John 1:9-11) and admonish and keep no company with disobedient brethren (2 Thes. 2:15; 2 Thes. 3:6):

Ordinances to Be Practiced By Believers Locally

Jesus Christ commanded the observance of two ordinances before He ascended unto His Father in Heaven; namely Baptism (Matt. 28:19) and the Lord's Supper (ICor. 11:23-30).

Baptism

All truly born-again believers are to follow the Bible example of the baptism of Jesus (Matt. 3:13-17). As we believe that He was immersed, so we conclude that we are to be immersed after this example. Although salvation is not contingent upon baptism (Eph. 2:8,9), we believe that every born-again believer will gladly follow the Lord in Scriptural baptism as soon after conversion as possible as a public confession of the salvation experience: a complete break with all known sin and the world, and a sincere intent to reckon oneself dead unto sin and alive unto God (Rom. 6:3-5). This ordinance openly signifies that the believer is crucified with Christ and buried with Him, being dead to sin and resurrected with Him by the power of God to newness of life through Him (Acts 2:38-41).

Lord's Supper

The Lord's Supper is a commemorative ordinance to be observed by the church in memory of the Savior (I Cor. 11:24). "This do in remembrance of me" (Lk. 22:19). Only believers have a right to partake of the Supper (Acts 2:41,42). A careful examination of the heart should have been made by each believer, for the unworthy partaking of the Lord's Supper brings damnation (judgment) upon himself (I Cor. 11:28-30).

GetBible.org Fellowship Disclaimer

GetBible.org does not endorse or condone the social mixing with various religions or doctrines (interfaith, interdenominational, ecumenical, etc.), for the purpose of 'so called' Christian fellowship. We further resolve to be obedient to scriptural teaching regarding the biblical practice of separation, noting that true 'biblical' Christian fellowship consists of those like minded in ALL bible doctrine; that in obedience, believers are to mark and avoid teachers of theological error, and to admonish and keep no company with continually disobedient brethren ( 2John 1:9-11; 1Corinthians 1:10; 2Corinthians 6:14-18).

“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1Corinthians 1:10
